Club Outing

Our annual club outing will take place in Westport Golf Club on Saturday, September 6th, with the first tee time at 1:30pm.

  • A timesheet is now available in the clubhouse. Members are asked to fill in their names and preferred tee times as soon as possible.
  • Final numbers must be confirmed with Westport by Wednesday, September 3rd, so please ensure your entry is in before then.

Cost: €50 per member

  • €40 to be paid on the day directly in Westport
  • €10 to be placed in the green fees box in Swinford (please mark the envelope “Westport Outing”) — this contribution will go towards prizes.

After golf, food will be available in the clubhouse for those who wish to stay on and enjoy the evening.

This day is always a bit of craic so hopefully we will see you out there.

Vice Captains Day

Vice Captain’s Day was a fine occasion, marked by challenging pin positions and steady golf. The notorious 9th green tested every player’s nerve, yet Pat O’Neill rose above the rest with a superb 67, the only score under par. In the ladies’ competition, Bernie Walsh took first place with a well-earned 72, followed closely by Caroline Goldrick and Julie Loftus on 73.

Beyond the scores, the day was carried by the work of many hands. Our Vice Captain, Mona Curry, wishes to extend her sincere thanks to all the volunteers who gave their time and energy to ensure the day ran so smoothly. From early morning preparations to the evening prize-giving, every effort was deeply appreciated and made the event one to remember.

Junior Golf

Junior golf at Swinford has gone from strength to strength this season, with record numbers of young players taking part. The enthusiasm and eagerness shown week after week was a joy to witness, and it bodes well for the future of the club. From beginners taking their first swings to more seasoned juniors competing with a tad more confidence, the programme was exceptionally well supported. A sincere thank you to all who coached, encouraged, and organised.

On Friday, August 22nd, Vice Captain Mona Curry kindly hosted a Junior Scramble which was very well supported. The event proved to be one of the highlighta of the summer, giving our young golfers a chance to enjoy competitive play in a fun setting.  Thanks to all who helped out on the day.

Interclub

A message from out Interclub convenot Dougie Cairns:

As 2025 Inter Club Convenor I’d just like to thank all the Team Captains, Players & Club members who represented and supported our Club throughout this season’s matches. We had some mixed results but reached Zone Finals in two of the Competitions defeating some formidable opposition along the way. We should look forward with confidence to having a good run again next year. A big thank you to Margaret who always has a warm welcome for visiting teams and our own players and cannot do enough to ensure everyone is catered for pre and post match.
Also have to give a big thank you to our Greenkeeper Keith McHugh who has worked tirelessly to have our course in great condition Enjoy the remainder of the season which hopefully will stretch into the winter months this year.

Swinford GC in turn would like to echo these sentiments and offer our thanks to Dougie for his hard work and dedication throughout the year. His commitment and organisation ensured our teams were well supported and proudly represented the club.
